Many possibilities
Dom-ray can provide you with a great project for your minor or (graduation) internship. You arrange the minor or internship itself, i.e. the agreements with your college or university, yourself. Most students come via a minor that allows them to do an internship abroad, such as the minor International Sustainable Development from Windesheim University of Applied Sciences or the minor Crossing Borders at the University of Twente. But this is not necessary. Many courses offer you the opportunity to go abroad. You can often choose your minor or internship location yourself. You will need to arrange your flight tickets, visa and accommodation at your own expense. We can of course give you advice about this. Before departure you will receive an extensive document with all kinds of useful tips & tricks. In Cambodia you will be guided by our Cambodian staff. Due to the nature of our organization, we cannot offer an internship allowance.
Below you will find a selection of possible projects. Is your field of study or dream project not listed? Don’t worry – we could certainly use your help! Contact us to discuss the possibilities.
Would you like to contribute to better education for children in Cambodia? During this internship, you will explore how early childhood and primary education can be further developed to better align with children’s different stages of development. You will help improve lesson programmes, develop new teaching materials, and may also teach classes yourself. This is a unique opportunity to apply your educational expertise in a completely different cultural context and work with local teachers to build sustainable education.
Relevant for: Teacher Education, Educational Sciences, Pedagogy, and other education-related programmes.
A good command of English increases the chances of a better future. However, many Cambodian children find English pronunciation difficult. How can you improve the health of an entire community? In Cambodia, children have very limited access to high-quality physical education. Would you like to help change that? This way, hundreds of children will continue to benefit from good physical education even after you leave.

Not every family knows where to turn when problems arise. In Cambodia, access to social services is limited, and many vulnerable families are unaware of the support available or do not know how to make use of it. During this internship, you will research which social services and support organisations are available and how families can be better guided toward appropriate assistance. Based on your research, you will develop a practical family-support workflow so that our local staff can continue to support families sustainably after your departure.
Relevant for: Social Work, Social Legal Services, Law, Pedagogy, Applied Psychology, and Public Administration.
Many Cambodian students choose a follow-up study programme without a clear understanding of their options. That is why we are developing a study-choice tool that helps young people make a choice that truly suits them. Together with Cambodian young professionals, you will research students’ needs, visit schools and social organisations, and improve the tool based on practical experience.
